We'll have an Opening Ceremony, honor the Good Neighbor Award winners, feature the inaugural Parade of Neighborhoods, and end with Community Connections in the park around neighborhood tables.

Why a parade of neighborhoods?

Now recruiting PARADE CAPTAINS and PARTICIPANTS from each of San Francisco’s eleven districts!

Each of the eleven supervisorial districts will have two paid parade captains ($500 each) who will:
Help organize community engagement days in your district (Aug - Sep, 2026), where residents can get creative to represent the things they love about their neighborhoods and decorate your district banner.
Help guide your district’s contingent when you stroll (or boogie or sing…) down Civic Center Plaza between all the other districts on Sep 26th.
Ideal candidates will have:
Enthusiasm and creativity!
Some experience representing and connecting with communities and neighborhoods in your district
Interest and experience in creative community activities
Community and/or collaborative art project leadership
We are currently offering $500 stipends for each parade captain.
We will provide guidance, flyers, art material for banners, creative ideation, and assistance finding music/parade bands.
Each district will have their own home base area of the plaza to share highlights, like special events and places, and their upcoming Good Neighbor Week events.
